RAFTS OF TRANSLATIONS: DIGITAL HORIZONS
We invited Dr Tom Cheesman (Swansea University) to hold a workshop and a research seminar on digital humanities approaches to the investigation of retranslations.
THE TRANSLATION OF HISPANIC SONNETS
The CASiLaC Translation and Creative Practice research cluster organised a research seminar and poetry translation workshop with scholar, novelist, and translator John Rutherford (University of Oxford).
TRANSLATION AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC IDENTITY
We talked to UCC postgraduate students Yairen Jerez, Amaia Arakistain, and Laura Linares about their views on the role of translation in the context of minority languages.
WHAT MAKES A TRANSLATION DIFFICULT?
Literary translator Sophie Hughes discussed theory and practice, and challenged us with the difficult translation of José Revueltas’ El Apando.
WRITING AND TRANSLATING LITERATURE
We interviewed literary translation Isobel Ní Riain about her experiences as a writer and a translator of English and Irish.
