Podcast #1: Translation norms and cultural planning

alex-blajan-99475

Welcome to our first podcast of the season: this Friday we read Toury’s ‘ ‘The nature and role of norms in literary translation’ and Even-Zohar’s ‘Culture planning, cohesion and the masking and maintenance of entities’, and we discuss what norms are, how they relate to universals and how they might impact or be impacted by cultural planning.

Please remember that this podcast is a direct recording of spontaneous ideas that we discuss as part of our development as PhD candidates and not final statements of our positioning in regards to theory. We would love to hear from others through the comments’ sections, but please keep it kind and respectful. Thank you!
